Psychological Evaluations for University Students

I conduct evaluations for university students who are seeking accommodations through their university or college Disability Services office.

PLEASE NOTE: I do not conduct testing for diagnoses of ADHD, Learning Disabilities, or Autism Spectrum Disorder at this time. I am happy to provide you with referrals to providers who do that kind of testing.

Here is how it works:

  • Before we, please meet with a staff member at your Disability Services Office. Usually they will have a form that I can submit to them after the evaluation is complete. This form is specific to your university or college, so you will need to send that to me before we meet.

  • I will meet with you via telehealth (remotely) to complete the evaluation. Usually this takes only one appointment, but sometimes it can take two. I will ask you a lot of questions about your mental health — your feelings, your thoughts, and about school. At the end of the evaluation, I should have a good understanding of how your mental health may be impacting your academics.

  • I will write a letter to a designated staff member at your Disability Services Office on campus to share this information. I will get your written permission before I send any information about you to anyone. I will inform you of what I am sharing before I share it.

  • Please note that I do not decide whether your request is granted or not. That decision is usually made by the Disability Services Office at your university or college.

Fees

Evaluations are typically completed in one - two appointments of 60 - 90 minutes.

  • Psychological Evaluation (remote) = $300 per hour

  • Report writing and coordination with Disabilities Service Office = pro-rated at $300 an hour. For example: if I spend 30 minutes on these tasks, the fee will be $150.

Please contact me as soon as you know you are interested in an evaluation. Usually students are feeling quite stressed and these requests must be completed quickly. It can take a number of weeks to get started with your Disabilities Services Office, just depending on the type of accommodation requests, time to review documentation, and staffing/appointment availability — especially at very busy times of the term.

  • I worked at Seattle University for 14 years. In that time, I worked closely with the Disability Services Office and completed many requests for students seeking academic accommodations.

I understand what documentation needs to be provided, who it goes to, and how it needs to be submitted.

  • The Americans with Disabilities Act ensures that students with disabilities are provided with academic accommodations so that they may access programs, services, and activities. This is to support your full engagement in university life.

Disabilities includes mental health diagnoses, which includes, but is not limited to, depression or anxiety. Documentation of how your mental health impacts your academic functioning can help get you accommodations at your university or college.

Documentation must come from a qualified licensed care provider and typically includes a diagnosis and/or how your mental health would be supported by receiving accommodations.
